The Label

Love OD Communications is an independent Norwegian label and conceptual platform built around Per Martinsen (aka Mental Overdrive). It operates less like a traditional record label and more like a concept-driven hub — releasing music, ideas, and narrative fragments that connect across interconnected projects into a single, evolving artistic universe.

Where most labels chase scale, catalogue volume, or algorithmic reach, Love OD Communications works as a long-form transmission — a body of work that builds meaning across releases, personas, and media over time.

Rather than a heavy commercial footprint, the label operates in a distributed, low-friction way — present across Bandcamp and streaming services, using text, fragments, and conceptual framing as integral parts of each release.

Per Martinsen

Per Martinsen hails from Tromsø in the far north of Norway. Alongside artists like Biosphere and Bjørn Torske, he was part of the first wave of Norwegian electronic musicians making an international mark in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Under his alias Mental Overdrive he has released on R&S Records, Smalltown Supersound, and his own Love OD Communications. He has collaborated with and remixed a long list of artists, scored films, and composed for theatre and contemporary dance performances.

Between 2019–2022 he carried out an artistic research doctorate — The Search for Resonance — at UiT, The Arctic University of Tromsø. From this emerged Pyramids On The Moon, now the conceptual backbone of the label's entire output.
